BIRD's NEST FEEDGrand Final Round Up
10-Dec-2016 We had two teams make it to grand finals this week, and we had one win and one loss. It was a great effort to see everyone play at their best, and we had a great number of spectators to see this for themselves. Well done to both teams, firstly to the Open 1 Sandpipers, who fought a tough battle, going down 24-29 to the opposition, and secondly, to the U17-1 Firetails who played an excellent game to win 40-18. posted 20-Aug-2016 Just In: Isabel Clarke just named Club Champion - Congratulations Isabel!!!!!! Grand Final Results
posted 20-Aug-2016 After what seemed to be a chilly winter's day, we had four teams line up for the premiership for each of their respective grades. Our U23 Bellbirds went down 25-27 to their opposition, after a tooth and nail battle! Over on court 1, our U23 Darters won by the narrowest of margins - 1 goal, 33 to 32. At 1pm, our Open 1 Sandpipers lost 43-52, while the U15 also lost 30-43. All in all one premiership for our club, which is a great achievement. Our U15 Rosellas won the best club team award, while Jessica Beqir and Dinelle H won MDNA awards. Well done!! posted 6-Aug-2016 We had eight teams make finals this season. Out of those eight teams, we have one team: Open 1 Sandpipers make it straight to the Grand Final!! Well done to the girls, and to coach Caz! Our A Grade Raptors and U17 Lyrebirds having tough games against their opposition going down 47 to 60, and 23 to 58 respectively. Our remaining five finals teams have made it to the next round, playing off in the preliminary finals for a spot in the Grand Final. Teams are playing at 11am and at 1pm next week, so let's make sure there's lots of support with Black, White and Green at the sidelines. Having said that, a big thank you goes out to our volunteers who helped our players register for Spring season. On the courts, our girls did a great job, despite the cold and the even colder wind! Two of our umpires have taken the next step by achieving the next level of recognition as umpires. Pink Day this Saturday
posted 12-May-2016 Pink Day will be held this Saturday. Players and spectators can wear pink bibs, pink tops, pink ribbons, pink socks or anything else pink you can think of. Please support efforts for Cancer Research especially the needs of those in our community. Morning tea will be provided for a donation (minimum gold coin) and merchandise will be available for sale. Even though they lost by the narrowest of margins (1 goal, yes just 1 goal!!!), the girls played a great game of netball and should be proud of their efforts. Our U11 Robins came even closer in winning their first game with a draw (3-3). Well done girls! Official Opening of Cricket Nets at Walker Reserve
posted 6-May-2016 Earlier this evening, Federal Minister for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP officially opened the new cricket nets at Walker Reserve for Wantirna South Cricket Club. This project represents quite a bit of effort invested by a number of people to achieve this important milestone. A special mention to Tony Gawne who led this initiative. Also on hand to celebrate this milestone was Federal MP Alan Tudge, Daniel Clark from Knox City Council and Grant Poulter from Cricket Australia. We also had a small contingent of netballers in our club colours, and in this webmaster's humble opinion, stood out from the crowd! <<click to enlarge>>

A great start to the season and well done to all our players. Our Open 2 Falcons, U15-1 Kites (yes, a Kite is a bird), U13-3 Sparrows and U11-2 Finches deserve a special mention as these teams won all three games - Congratulations! posted 13-Feb-2016 WSNC are proudly endorsing the Walk for Monash Childrens Hospital. Monash Children's Hospital is a partner in the Victorian Paediatric Clinical Network and co-delivers Victoria's most important care in oncology, child protection, rehabilitation, neonatal intensive care, paediatric intensive care, orthopaedic and palliative care. The walk is held every year in the picturesque Jells Park. We as a club have created a team so we can walk together wearing our WSNC tops. So, if you are interested, head to http://mchwalk.com.au and register. Online registration is open now and can be done at any stage prior to the day. Costs are: - Adult – $25 - Child (5-15) – $15 - Under 5 – free If you’d rather register on the day, it opens at 8.00 a.m. and registration at the venue is: - Adult – $30 - Child (5-15) – $20 - Under 5 – free The WSNC team have been entered in to the 5km walk which kicks off at 10.30 a.m. But don’t come just for that. There’s heaps of activities including an animal farm, Kid Zone, Henna artists and FREE massages as well as food stalls and entertainment. posted 17-Jan-2016 As we start to get ready for Winter 2016, there are changes all members need to be aware of. Due to changes in VNA, players are now required to pay and register their VNA before the player is allowed to take to the court. Once payment is received from each player, WSNC will proceed to register their VNA. This includes Grading Days, and is a Netball Victoria requirement.
